American Goldfinch

General description.

The American Goldfinch is a small, bright, bright yellow and black migratory and common bird across North America. The male Goldfinch's yellow is as yellow as the Cardinal is red. The Goldfinch will paint bright, beautiful trails of yellow and black all day long as they dart back and forth between the feeder and a perch on a tree. The American Goldfinch feeds readily from the backyard bird feeder, and in large numbers. The Goldfinch loves thistle and black oil sunflower seeds, but make sure your feed is fresh. They won't eat old or stale seeds. The American Goldfinch nests in late June.

Female appearance.

The female American Goldfinch is much duller in color and lacks the black cap. The female Goldfinch's yellow isn't as bright and therefor, the yellow-black contrast isn't nearly as dramatic as that of the male Goldfinch.
