General description.
The Great Gray Owl is the largest owl in North America. It can most often be seen at night in open areas hunting for the rodents that it eats. Recently, food shortages have led to this bird being seen South of its normal range. The Great Great Owl nests in dead trees. This bird is rare, but they generally stay away from humans. There has been some decline in population due to habitat loss.
